Question: Is a woman sinning if she does not want to marry with a married man? Does she have a valid excuse if she does not want to marry him because he lives too far away from her and in another country?

Shaykh al-Wasâbî: She is apparently not sinning and Allâh knows better. It is up to her. If she for example is from Algeria and a Tunisian proposes to her, it cannot be said that she is sinful for saying no to him and wants a man who lives close to her. It is up to her. Either she accepts or she excuses herself. She should ask Allâh for advice. She is not obliged anything if she were to excuse herself. The same goes for the woman who says no to a teacher. She is not obliged anything, if Allâh wills. She is not obliged to marry a teacher. It is up to her. It is up to her whether she wants to marry someone else. Everything lies in the hand of Allâh. What Allâh decides will happen. She should ask Allâh for advice. She should pray two Rak’ât and read the Istikhârah-prayer. Allâh will choose that which He wants.

Ibn-ul-Mubarak: Nothing is better than seeking knowledge for Allah's sake. And Allah hates nothing such as seeking knowledge for someone elses sake. (Adab Shar'iyyah 2/127)

al-Albânî: "al-Ikhwân Al-Muslimûn's religion is sport, football and basketball." (Silsila al-Huda wan Nûr 200)

Zayd bin Arqam said: "A man from the fire will be so great (In size) in the fire, so that one of his molar teeth will be like Uhud (the mountain)." (Ahmad (4/367))

Ibn Taymiyyah: The majority of the Salaf such as Malik and Ahmad say that one is silent when the Imam is reading loudly and that one reads when he is reading silently. (al-'Iraqiyyah 1/37, afatwa.com)

Qur'ân: "And of the people is he who buys the amusement of speech.." (31:6, interpretation of the meanings) Ibn 'Abbaas said: "this means singing" [Tafsîr Al-Tabari 21/40]

Ibn Taymiyyah: And when this is from the words of az-Zuhri, it is part of the most proving evidence that indicate that the Sahabah did not read in the loud prayers with the prophet ﷺ. This is because az-Zuhri was the most knowledgeable in the Sunnah of his time. And if it had been prescribed, obligatory or recommended for the companions to read behind the prophet, then it would have been part of the general rulings of which the general companions and the followers and those who followed them in good knew. Ahmad bin Hanbal: I long for something that does not exist. I long to be in a place where no one exists. (Manaqib Ahmad, p. 374)

Al-Maghribi: A woman should be beautiful without beautifying herself. One should become happy by looking at her. She should have a fine character. She should have a plumpy body and a slim stomach. She should have a thin waist, be imposingly built and have big hips and a big behind. (an-Nuzhah, p. 142)

Ibn 'Uthaymin: If a woman becomes Muslim before her man, then one waits, if he then does not become a Muslim and her waiting period ends, the marriage is then canceled. (Kitab an-Nikah 10a, afatwa.com)
