Question: What factors prevent Takfîr [upon an individual]?

Shaykh al-Fawzân: It is the scholars who have right to Takfîr. Not everyone has the right to it. The scholars are the ones who know the reasons behind apostasy and disbelief. They know who they are to be applied on. Do not busy yourselves with Takfîr, Tabdî’ and Tafsîq. Busy yourselves with the studies. You have not reached that discernment yet. Seek knowledge and leave Takfîr and its related matters. Let the scholars handle that.

We do not know of any dissension regarding (the fact) that it is not obligatory for the Imam to be silent so that the led one can read al-Fatihah or something other than it - and to read with him is forbidden according to the Book and the Sunnah. Ibn Taymiyyah: Ibn Kullab said that the Qur’an is an eternal speech that Allah had not uttered with His ability. This opinion was unknown among Salaf who said: The Qur’an is the speech of Allah and it is not created and Allah speaks with His will and ability. (SHN, p 105)
